Chicago
O'Hare International Airport (ORD)

BEST WAY DOWNTOWN: Train

BASICS
O'Hare is located 19 miles (30 km) northwest of the Loop, Chicago's main business district. Airport information booths are located in all terminals and are open from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. daily.

The airport's Web site is less than thrilling but offers a few tidbits of useful information, including:

Far better is http://www.quickaid.com/airports/ord/, an alternate site that includes:
TAXI
There's no shortage of taxis at O'Hare. The fare is metered, and you should expect to pay $30 to $35 for the 40- to 60-minute trip.

TRAIN
If you are traveling light, the CTA train is the best. You can depart at Washington Street Station in the Loop and catch a taxi to your final destination. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) operates a train service from O'Hare. Look for the sign leading to the station beginning in the baggage-claim area. The Blue Line train will take you right to the central Loop in 45 minutes for $1.50. Trains are frequent and reliable.

BUS
Continental Airport Express (not connected with Continental Airlines) provides regular bus service to major hotels in the downtown area. The fare is $16 one-way and the trip takes up to an hour. Look for the booth selling tickets for the bus as you leave the baggage-claim area. Their number is 800-654-7871.

RENTAL CAR
All major rental car companies have offices in the airport and downtown.
