BASICS
Baiyun Airport is located 12 miles (20 km) north of the center of Guangzhou. Hong Kong is the major international port of entry for Guangzhou, but with the business expansion in this part of China, the number of passengers using Guangzhou is sure to increase.
TAXI
Taxis are available, but difficult to deal with. Most drivers do not speak English, and the meters may not work. The fare to central Guangzhou from the airport will be about 110 yuan ($13). Always agree on the fare before leaving the airport, or insist that the driver turn on the meter (should it be functional).
HOTEL LIMOUSINE
The major hotels provide a limousine service to and from the airport. You may book this service when you book your room, and then be met at the arrivals area for your ride to the hotel. Or you can go to the hotel counter in the airport arrivals area and book transportation to your hotel after you arrive. The cost is around 165 yuan ($20) and the travel time about 20 to 30 minutes. A limo is a little more expensive than a taxi, but well worth the cost for the extra convenience.
BUS
There are a number of city buses running along different routes that span from the airport. They are often extremely crowded, and not easy to negotiate if you are carrying luggage.
