Hi John,
Just been reading your article on the Daily Majorca web site. I have just had the same experience as yourself, but this time it was a tech fault.
Flight out no problems. Flight back, nightmare. Should have taken off at
22.30. Waited in departure lounge with no announcements made. Finally boarded plane after midnight. We were offered a complimentary drink and sandwich, BUT they explained that there was not enough food to go round, so children were fed first, fair deal but that was it, no food left for anyone else. We were still being told we were still flying into Manston, not until our descent did the captain finally tell us it we would be landing at Gatwick. No one at Gatwick to help us, just came across some very surly staff of Aviance who after lots of confusion put us into cabs, had been told coaches would bring us back. I really feared for my family's life. The cabby drove at speeds constantly exceeding 100 mph, one hand on the wheel, the other holding his head. He had already worked a full day, been at home socialising before getting a call to return to work!
We can accept that problems do arise but they really need to get their customer service skills together and keep their customers informed. As compensation EU Jet have offered us a free flight voucher but with such restrictions it is useless to us. Must be used by 1st Nov 05, not to be used between 22nd July - 1st Sept (school summer hols) or 22nd Oct - 30th Oct (half term hols). My daughters at school and is not allowed to take time off outside the holiday period.
I have contacted their customer relations department only to be told to write in, which I have done today. We are unfortunately flying with them again in August to Belfast so I have asked if they will refund the cost of this flight. I don't hold much hope.
After this flight will never use them again. Only hope we don't suffer again.
Kind regards
